It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Glen
William MacDonald of Sydney, passing away Saturday December 9, 2017
after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Ralph and
Eunice (Stubbard) MacDonald. He grew up in New
Waterford, moving to Antigonish, NS at age of 12.
Since the age of sixteen, Glen worked in the tourism and
hospitality industries. There was nothing Glen enjoyed more than
promoting Cape Breton Island. He was a long-time member of Sydney
Y’s Men Club and loved volunteering for Christmas Cheer with
his family every year. He was also an avid gardener and baker. His
girls’ favorite were his famous chocolate chip cookies!
Glen really enjoyed spending time with family and friends,
sharing his latest culinary creations.
Glen is survived by his wife, Gail (MacLeod), twin daughters,
Megan and Amy, both of Sydney, his dog, Chloe, a brother Keith (Moira)
Whitney Pier, sisters in-law Carol Anne (Dank), West Bay, Joyce
MacLeod, Grand River, Faye (Kenny), Dartmouth, brother- in-law Parker
(Patsy), Blacketts Lake, nieces and nephews Nicole, Kim, Kyle,
Jennifer, Allister, Matthew, Melanie, and Mackenzie.
Visitation will take place Tuesday December 12,
2017 in Sydney Memorial Chapel from 4-8
P.M. Funeral service will be
held Wednesday at 11 am in Bethel
Presbyterian Church with Rev. Robert Lyle officiating. Interment will
take place at a later date.
Memorials may be made to the Y’s Mens Christmas
Cheer, Patient Care Fund at the Cancer Center at the Cape Breton
Regional Hospital, or to the Tourism Scholarship in Glen’s
name at CBU.
