Obituary for George William Davies “Bill” Patrick
George “Bill” William Davies Patrick, 93, died Saturday December 16, 2017 in the Ottawa General Hospital, of no particular illness. He leaves his wife of 89 years, Roberta (Bringhurst) Patrick; his son, George and wife Leslie; his daughter, Stephanie; and five grandchildren, Jennifer an Alexander of Ottawa, and Matthew, Sarah, and Adam, of Calgary. Over the course of his life he had many friends. Born and raised in Ottawa, he flew in Lancasters in the second world war, and continued in the RCAF, where he flew in the CF100 in Europe. Returning to Ottawa, he began a successful career in the then early field of computer services. In the winter, he was an avid expert skier; he continued to ski well into his eighties. A long time member of Britannia Yacht Club, in the summers he sailed with his young family, and he continued sailing with his wife Roberta, again well into his eighties. A memorial visitation will be held at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair, and McGarry, 315 McLeod Street (at O’Connor) Ottawa, on Saturday, December 23 from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m., after which there will be a private burial.
