George Lloyd Cook – 1952-2017

1952-2017
It is with broken hearts that we announce the death of George Cook of
New Haven PEI in his sixty-sixth year. He died peacefully at the
Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Charlottetown on Wednesday, November 15,
2017 surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his loving
wife of 39 years, Ellen (Whitty); brothers: Finley (Jean), Doug
(Chris); sisters: Betsy (John) Dickie, Phyllis (Bernie) Furlong and
many nieces and nephews and grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
George was predeceased by his parents Wm. F. (Billy) and Isabel
(Gallie) Cook; brothers Mac, Bruce and Kingston; and sisters Lillian
and Ruthie.
George was born and raised in Black Point, New Brunswick and moved to
Prince Edward Island forty-two years ago. He was an avid golfer and
member of Glen Afton Golf and Country Club for many years. He enjoyed
his involvement with the North Stars Junior Hockey Team. Friends and
family will greatly miss his quick wit and humour, his thoughtfulness
and smile, and his gift of music. George’s guitar was always
close at hand and he led the singing at family and many other
gatherings.
Visitation will be held at Belvedere Funeral Home, Charlottetown on
Sunday, November 19 from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. Memorial Service will be
held at Belvedere Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, November 20 at 11:00
a.m. with a reception to follow in the Belvedere Reception Centre. A
Graveside Committal Service will be held at New Mills Protestant
Cemetery in New Brunswick in August 2018.
In lieu of flowers, to honour George’s wishes, donations may be
made to the ALS Society or Queen’s County Home Care so that
others may be helped. Online condolences may be made at:
