The family announces with sorrow, the passing of George Clifford Donahue of Blue Ridge, AB, on March 7, 2017 at the age of 85 years.
George leaves to cherish his memory his brother, Pat (Doris) of Blue Ridge; sister-in-law, Darlene of Whitecourt; nieces, Deana (Darin) Kastelic of Sangudo and Andrea (David Lovich) Donahue of Blue Ridge; great-nephew, Noah; great-nieces, Hannah and Sophia; and many dear relatives and friends. Predeceased by parents, Mike and Edna; brother, Larry; niece, Dawn and devoted companion, “Lady”.
George will be remembered for his love of his family, his farm, playing crib and hunting. He loved visiting family to deliver their mail. George also enjoyed having coffee with neighbours and friends. George often spoke of his career as a mechanic in the RCAF, how he enjoyed being on the Board of the Blue Ridge Community Hall Association and socializing at the Legions and Jamborees. George was known for his feisty nature, but those who knew him best enjoyed his softer side.
Thank you to the doctors and staff of the Whitecourt Health Care Centre, Whitecourt Home Care and staff of Spruce View Lodge for the care and compassion shown to George.
Respecting George’s wishes, a private family gathering will be held. In lieu of other tributes, donations may be made to Friends of the Lac Ste. Anne Foundation (Spruce View Lodge), Box 908, Mayerthorpe AB T0E 1N0.
