daughter of the late George and Myrtle (Kinney) Matheson. A loving
mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, Bernice is survived

one sister: Joan Taylor of Bonny River NB and several nieces, nephews

Prior to retirement, Bernice had several jobs throughout the area
beginning as a School Teacher. She then went to work for Connor’s
Bros. at the old Hotel in Blacks Harbour and then the Farm. She also
worked as a seamstress for the old Connors Bros. Store out of her home
for several years and many locals used her services as well. She
finally finished her working career in the Labeling Room. Bernice was
known as a mom and grandmother to everybody who came through her door.
Over the years, she made many pairs of mittens and socks which she
distributed to the Blacks Harbour School to keep little hands and feet
warm. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially
her beloved grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by her family,
friends and her community. She was a member of the Second Falls
Baptist Church.
The family would like to thank the staff of the 2nd floor at Charlotte
County Hospital and also the Fundy Nursing Home for the care and
compassion they have shown, not only to our mother, but to us as well.
