Fannie Bates (nee Burte) – December 14th, 2016

BATES, Fannie
Fannie Bates (Burte) passed away Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at the age of 94 years. Fannie was born October 6, 1922 in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia. Although born in Cape Breton, Fannie spent most of her married life in Montreal. When her husband Joe retired, they moved back to Cape Breton. When Joe passed on, she moved to Calgary to be close to some of her children. She enjoyed life in Calgary for many years and loved spending as much time as possible with her children.
Fannie is lovingly remembered by her children, Joe Jr., Thomas (Jan), Anne, Sandra, Phillip (Linda), Katherine, Paul (Jayne) and Jim (Robin); numerous grand and great grand children; along with sister, Bette. She was predeceased by her husband, Joe and daughter, Pamela.
Fannie was a devout Christian and loved attending weekly church services. She also loved shopping and spent many days at the malls with sister Vina in Cape Breton and with her dear friend Maureen, when she moved to Calgary. Fannie loved to bake and was well known to all the neighbourhood children as well as her own family for her delicious baking. She spent her last few months at Mayfair Care Centre in Calgary and her last few days at Rockyview Hospital in Calgary. Many thanks to the staff at Mayfair and Rockyview for taking such good care of our dear mother.
Rest in peace Mom – we love you
