Obituary for Evelyn, Mary Beer
Peacefully, on Thursday, December 7, 2017 Evelyn Mary Beer passed away, at Oakview Place at the age of 95 years.
Evelyn was predeceased by her late husband Arthur, son Braden, parents Noel and Helen, siblings Allan Grice, Edna Dobson and Rooney Grice. Evelyn is survived by her son, Walter (Linda), daughter Carole (John), loving nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great- grandchildren.
Evelyn was born in Kelvington, Saskatchewan on May 1, 1922.She completed her high school education in Sherridan, Manitoba. After high school Evelyn then received her Accounting Education at Success Business College and Principles of Management at Red River Community College.
Evelyn served with the C.W.A.C Canadian Army from 1944-1946 in Nanaimo, BC.
Evelyn was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion #97 Osborne Street and was a life member since 1966. Evelyn served as an executive member of the Fort Rouge Branch for 12 years. Evelyn was also employed at the Fort Rouge Branch as Treasurer, Secretary Treasurer and Bookkeeper. Evelyn served as the Club President for 2 years (1978-1979). Evelyn finished her career with the Manitoba and Northwest, Ontario command of the Royal Canadian Legion. She officially retired in 1987.
Evelyn enjoyed her summers at Grand Beach and Grand Marais spending it with her longtime friend Bob Sangster.
The family would like to thank all the staff at Oakview Place on Ness Avenue where Evelyn lived the last years of her long great life. She had excellent care at Oakview and I am sure she will be missed by all the staff with her singing and stories she told. Thank you, very much. Greatly Appreciated.
A memorial service will take place at 11:00 am on Saturday December 16, 2017 at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Avenue (across from Brookside Cemetery).
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba, and the Wildlife Haven Rehabilitation Centre, P.O. Box 147, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3V 1L5.
