Obituary Overview
Lovingly Remembered
Ed passed away peacefully surrounded by family at the Foothills Hospital on Saturday, November 11, 2017. He was the husband of his loving wife Ann (Nee Sandstra), father to Glen (Lawna Hurl) and Linda (Kent Stuckert), grandfather to Brad and Andrew Thompson, Lyla, Kylie and Deacon Gerlat, great grandpa to Raelynn and Noah. Ed was a son, brother, husband, dad, grandfather, uncle to many, friend to all.
Ed also leaves behind his mother Olga in Leduc, two brothers, Helmuth (Diane) of Leduc, William and his son Alexandre in Orleans. He also leaves behind uncles, aunts and many cousins in the United States. Ed was predeceased by his brother Albert Jr. and his father Albert Sr.
Ed drove for Calgary Transit for 38 years and retired in 2008. He was an outgoing and very friendly person who made friends very easily. He will be sorely missed by all his family and friends and all who knew and loved him. The family would like to thank Sage Hill Senior Living and especially Bethany Calgary for welcoming Ed into their lives and making him feel at home. We would especially thank the Foothills Hospital Emergency Department and Unit 36 for all the staff and everyone who worked around the clock to help and treat him. They cared for him and the family while he was there.

A Memorial Service will be held at Highwood Lutheran Church, (419 Northmount Drive NW Calgary) on Monday, November 20, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. A private family interment will be held at Mountain View Memorial Gardens.
