Obituary for Eva Slack (McCay)
Eva Matilda Slack, 90, of Fancy Lake passed away peacefully on 26 September 2017 at South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater.
Born 14 January 1927 in Chester, Pennsylvania she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Mary (Fischer) McCay.
She was predeceased by husband, Rev James Slack Sr and son-in-law, Philip Wamboldt in 2005, brother, Thomas and sister, Margaret.
She is survived by sons, Rev. James Slack Jr (Natalie) of Montreal, Stephen of Halifax; daughters, Kathy, Georgetown, ON, Barbara (Carlos) Homosits, Mississauga, ON, Virginia Slack, Waterloo, ON and Carol Slack-Wamboldt (Jeff Cotter) of Conquerall Bank, NS. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Jim and Eva were married June 1953 and moved from Pennsylvania to Nova Scotia where Jim began his career in the ministry. They fell in love with Lunenburg County and became Canadian citizens in 1981.
Visitation will take place Sunday, Oct 1st 7-9 pm at the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy. # 3 Lunenburg. Funeral service will be held 11:00 am Monday 2nd Oct at Zion Lutheran Church, Lunenburg, Rev Rick Pryce and Rev. Svante Olson, officiating. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Lunenburg.
Family flowers only, donations may be made in Eva’s memory to Zion Lutheran Church, Lunenburg, All Saints Lutheran Church, Newcombville or the charity of your choice.
A special Thank You to the staff at Ridgewood for their care and compassion during Eva’s time there.
