Ernest “Ernie” Pellerin
1938 – 2017
It is with great sorrow that the family announces his peaceful passing at the Algonquin Nursing Home on Tuesday Aug.29th 2017. Survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Irene (nee Collins) Pellerin, and his brother Cameron wife Linda of St. Catherine’s On. Ernie was predeceased by his parents Hector and Alda Pellerin and a sister Greeta Clines (George) of Georgia USA. Ernie was born in Eau Claire Calvin Twp. and was raised in Schumacher Ontario. He spent many years as an Air Force policeman in Germany,1962 to 1966. On his return, he was employed as a policeman in Orangeville. Ernie than went on to become a farmer and a sawyer. In later years, he returned to work as Commissionaire at the Correctional Centre. Ernie was also past Master of the Mattawa Masonic Lodge. He was a past President of the Mattawa Royal Canadian Legion, and he was a zone and district veterans services officer.
Anyone who knew Ernie knew of his love of horses. He was a great story teller. Ernie loved square dancing, and was a caller for many years. He will be missed by Aunts, Uncle, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends from the East to the West Coast of Canada. Cremation at the Forest Lawn Crematorium. A Celebration of Ernie’s Life will be held at a later date.
