Enid G. Langille
Enid G. Langille, of Moncton, passed away peacefully at The
Moncton Hospital on Wednesday, November 22, 2017.
Born inYarmouth, NS, she was a member of the large and loving
familty of the late George and Flora (Jeffrey) Brittain. Ten
of her eleven brothers and sisters (William, Jack, George, Ross,
Doris, Margaret, Mary, Ruth, Anne and Barbara) have predeceased
her. She is survived by her youngest sister Elizabeth (Carl)
Smith of Windsor.
Enid went to Halifax during the war and served the Army in a
secretarial role. It was there that she met her husband of
60 years, Laurie, and they began their married life
together. In 1961, the family moved to Moncton.
Becoming a member of Mountain View Church in 1970, Enid joined the
choir and continued her participation there for the next 45
years. Her volunteer work in the community included the Red
Cross, the YWCA, the CNIB and the Moncton Hospital. Her
husband Laurie passed away in 2007.
In addition to her sister Elizabeth, Enid is survived by sons
Christopher (Nancy) Langille of Tide Head, NB; Richard (late Mary
Anna) Langille of Halifax, N.S.; daughter, Nancy Langille of Halifax,
NS; grandchildren, Clifford (Robyn Black) Langille and Martha (Adrian)
MacGowan, both of Halifax; and Scott Langille of Tide Head, N B; great
grandchildren, Joey and Genevieve; several nieces, nephews and
extended family members.
People often used the word ‘remarkable’ to describe Enid
because of the way she held fast to her independence, her energy, her
sense of humour, and her keen interest in new people and things, –
becoming larger in her life as time went on. She seemed
somewhat mystified by the depth of love and admiration that she
inspired although it came as a direct result of who she was and the
way she lived her life. Those who knew her will feel their lives have
been richer for it and will miss her bright spirit.
A Memorial Service to celebrate and honour Enid’s
life will be held at Mountain View United Church, 85 MacBeath Avenue,
on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at 2:00 pm, with Rev. Danny Compton
leading the service. Reception to follow in the church
hall.
Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery in the
spring.
Arrangements entrusted to Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657
Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995).
Enid’s family would like to thank all the many people who
showed her so much kindness and care as her health declined.
Donations, in her memory, to Mountain View United Church Memorial Fund
or The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada (www.llscanada.org)
would be appreciated. Private online condolences for the family can be
