Elizabeth “Betty” Gold Hooper
1925-2017
Elizabeth “Betty” Hooper of St. George, wife of the late
Lawrence H. Hooper, was gently called to her heavenly home on February
20th, 2017. Betty had been a resident of Passamaquoddy Lodge since
June of 2014.
Born March 7th 1925 in Scotland, Betty and her family moved to Coles
Island when she was five. Betty often spoke of her visit home to
Scotland a number of years ago. After her marriage she settled in St.
George, where she worked at the local pharmacy for 30 years. Betty was
an avid curler for many years as well as a member of the Granite Town
Seniors, volunteering at the Tourist Bureau for close to twenty years.
St. Mark’s Anglican Church played a very important role in her
life.
In addition to her husband Lawrence, Betty was predeceased by her
sisters Janet & Esther as well as her brother James. She is
survived by one sister Mary Slobam, two nieces as well as her three
special friends: Marion Murray, Marion Tucker and Susan
Wentworth.
Arrangements in the care of the St. George Funeral Home (755-3533) 26
Portage Street, St. George, NB. By Betty’s request there will be
no visitation. A graveside service will be held at St. George Rural
cemetery in the spring. For those who wish donations to St.
Mark’s Anglican Church would be appreciated.
“Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful
with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and
share your master’s happiness!” Matthew 25:21
