1951-2017
With great sadness we announce the passing of
Elaine Helen Koivistio (McCarty), wife of the late David Koivistio,
which occurred at her residence in Baines Corner on February 3, 2017,
surrounded by loved ones. Born in Saint John, NB on January 14, 1951,
she was a daughter of the late Harold and Katherine (Peters)
McCarty.
Until her retirement, Elaine worked for many years
as a personal care worker. She also enjoyed gardening and
was a member of the Jarvis Bay Legion Ladies Auxiliary. Her
greatest joy came from time spent with her grandchildren.
Elaine will be missed by her sons: Kevin McCarty
and George Morris; daughter, Ella McCarty; grandchildren: Kevin
McCarty, Jennelle Clarke and La Dawn; great-grandson, Jayshawn
Dickson; special friend Wayne Chetly; brothers: Clarence (Lucy),
Edward (Belinda), Vernon (Diana); sisters: Ella Louise Parker, Mary
Easter Kennedy and Katherine “Rosebud” McCarty
(David) along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and other members
of her extended family.
Besides her parents and husband Elaine was
predeceased by her brothers: Victor, John, Malcom and
Harold. Special Thanks to the staff at the Saint John
Regional Hospital and the Extra Mural Program – KV Unit for
the exceptional care given to Elaine.
Arrangements are under the care of
Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint
John (634-7424). With visitation on Monday,
February 6, 2017 and Tuesday, February 7, 2017 from 2 pm – 4
pm and 6 pm – 8 pm. A Legion Service will take
place on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at 7 pm. A Funeral
Service will take place on Wednesday, February 8 from
Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel at 12 Noon. For those
who wish, remembrances may be made to The Canadian Cancer Society or
the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
