Obituary

Martin, Edna Ray
With great sadness but with relief for her, we tell you of the passing of our mom and Granny, Edna Ray (nee Kelsey) Martin, at the age of 88. Loving wife of the late Douglas Paul Martin. She will be dearly missed by her son, Kelsey “Syd” (Michele) and daughter, Shelley (Gary) and grandchildren, Andrea, Taylor-Ann and David. One of 8 children, she is survived by brothers Gus (Winona), Roger (Joyce) and sister Jean, all of St John’s, Newfoundland, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was born in St John’s, married our dad/Poppa in 1954 and moved to Montreal until 2009, when they both moved to Ottawa. Special thanks to all staff at St Vincent’s Hospital/Bruyere Continuing Care, in particular nurses Berthe, Gloria, Kadra, Micheline, and Sherley. Also thank you to doctors who treated her for over 50 years at Montreal’s Royal Victoria Hospital. Heartfelt thanks to her many friends and relatives who kept her (and our) spirits up with letters, calls and visits over the past few years, especially the Jones family. Family and friends may visit at the Garden Chapel of Tubman , 3440 Richmond Rd., Nepean, on Thursday, December 14th from 3 – 5 pm, followed by a memorial service in the chapel at 5 pm. Burial will take place beside our dad/Poppa on Friday, December 15th at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, please donate in (Edna) Ray’s memory to Bruyere Foundation, 43 Bruyère Street, Ottawa, ON, K1N 5C8 or to a charity of your choice. May she live in your heart forever.
