Obituary for Dwight MacKay
MacKay, Dwight M. – Passed away peacefully at his home on Monday October 23, 2017. Dwight McLevin MacKay of RR/ 2, Tavistock in his 90th year. Beloved husband of the late Eva Jean (nee Slaght) MacKay (2007). Loving father to Laurence (Mary) MacKay and Margaret (David) MacKay-Calder. Loved grandfather of Erin (Jeremy) Turpin, Davina (Kurtis) Garner, Blair (Brittany) MacKay, Carmen (Hiske) MacKay, Lauren (Gordon) Rafferty, Ally (Dave) Baker, Reid Calder and great grandfather of Hallie and Lewis Turpin, Hugh and Hadley Rafferty. Dear brother-in-law of Mary MacKay, Gordon (Bonnie) Slaght and Joanne Slaght. Dwight is also survived by his many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Predeceased by his brothers; Williard and Maxwell (Arlene) MacKay and by his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; Ed (Mary) Slaght, Jack (Joyce) Slaght and Wayne Slaght. Dwight was very active in Knox United Church Embro. He served with the Session, Board of Stewards, a choir member and many other committees and participated with the many functions at the church. He was a past Director of North Blenheim Mutual Insurance for many years. Dwight was a man that lead by example. He was gentle, honest and trustworthy. When you met Dwight at a church function, a community function or simply on the street, he always had time to say hello and a few kind words. He will be truly missed by all who knew him. Friends are invited to join the family at the Brock and Visser Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Ave., Woodstock, 519-539-0004 on Friday October 27, 2017 from 2:30 – 4:30 and 7-9pm. The funeral service to honour Dwight`s life will be held on Saturday at 1:30pm from Knox United Church, Embro. Interment to follow in the North Embro Cemetery.
