Obituary Overview
Douglas Robert Kemp
Suddenly on November 23, Doug passed away at his home in Winnipeg.
Doug is predeceased by his parents Irene Kemp (nee Ripley) and John (Jack) Kemp, and by his brother-in-law Don Fox.
He is survived by his sister Lorene (Ken) Fox, sister-in-law Elaine Fox, cousins Lynne (Ron) Moss, Karen Turner and may other 2nd and 3rd cousins.
Doug who was born in Moncton, New Brunswick was a friendly and out-going fellow who enjoyed books, movies, TV, sports, history and Sci-Fi everything. He was always willing to help anyone, and was kind and generous to all his friends and family. Doug and his best friend John shared a love of books and could often be found rummaging through book stores and flea markets in search of the next great find. He also loved going to the cottage in Ontario and spending time with his father Jack.
Doug was also a past founding member of Star Trek Winnipeg and spent many happy years helping out at Keycons in Winnipeg and Toronto, as well as being a volunteer with St-Johns Ambulance attending numerous concerts and sporting events with them.
Doug had been employed at CNR for over 25 years and worked as a laborer in Transcona and Symington Diesel Shop.
A celebration of Doug’s life will be held at 4:00pm on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd.
In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations in memory of Doug may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
