Obituary Overview
Forever In Our Hearts
Doug passed away from lung disease on the evening of December 25, 2017. He was surrounded by his loving family. One of the last things that Doug could be heard saying was ‘I love you’ to you his wife of 65 years, Anna Woods.
Doug was predeceased by his parents, John and Alice; and his siblings, Jack and Evelyn.
He will be remembered by his brother Bill (Helen); and his sister Joan; his children Dan (Sandra) and Dennis (Flo); his grandchildren Sarah (Blake), Simon (Nicole), Eric, Braeden and Garrett; and his great-grandchildren Evan, Kelvin, Dalton, and Oliver; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Doug’s father passed away early in life, leaving his wife with five children. Doug and his siblings grew up fast and took care of each other from a young age.
Doug and his brother Bill worked at Western Machine and Engineering Company Limited for almost fifty years. During that time, Doug progressed from machinist to manager. He was widely respected by his colleagues and customers. He was known for his vision and elegant solutions. Doug could build and fix almost anything.
Upon retirement, he transformed his garage into a small shop, where he happily spent long hours. Many of us will remember Doug by the gifts from his shop, from chairs to pig roasters, to bicycle trailers.
Doug and Anna lived in the Rosemont community most of their marriage, enjoying their neighbours and being active in their church.
Doug loved his wife Anna dearly. She was truly the apple of his eye. Doug and Anna shared many activities together; they danced for many years and taught dancing at the Regina Ballroom Dance Club. They also loved to go camping and walk hand-in-hand with their dog Spook.
Doug had a keen sense of humour. Even when he was struggling so hard, he still had a twinkle in his eye.
A FUNERAL SERVICE FOR DOUG will be held at St. James the Apostle Anglican Church, 1105 Empress Street, Regina, SK on Friday, December 29, 2017 at 2:00 p.m.
Donations in memory of Doug may be made to St James the Apostle Anglican Church.
