OBITUARY OF DOROTHY Elizabeth (ARMSTRONG) BEATTIE
Dorothy (Dot) Elizabeth Beattie of Saskatoon, SK passed away on September 9, 2017 at Royal University Hospital surrounded by family members. Dot was born in Elbow, SK on April 7, 1927, the daughter of the late George and Etta Armstrong. She was the third youngest of eleven siblings. Dot trained as a nurse in Medicine Hat, AB and nursed in Germany, British Columbia and Saskatchewan. She married Jack Beattie in 1970 and lived on a farm near White Bear with their son Alex before retiring to a home at Saskatchewan Landing. Following Jack’s death she moved to Swift Current and later to Saskatoon. Dot travelled widely while single and with Jack and Alex and enjoyed winters in Mesa, AZ. She also enjoyed bridge. Dot is survived by two sisters Phyllis Thrasher of Saskatoon and Grace (Cam) Wilson of Winnipeg, MB and numerous nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and great nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Jack and son, Alex and by eight of her siblings. A graveside Service was held on Saturday September 16, 2017 with Pastor Greg Kiel officiating. Dot was laid to rest in Mount Pleasant Burial Park, Swift Current, SK. Donations in Dot’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Warren’s Funeral Home were entrusted with the arrangements.
