Doris Pearlen Miles – 2017

It is with great sadness the family of Doris Pearlen Miles, 84, (1932-2017) announces her passing.
Doris passed away peacefully at the Wolfville nursing home on January 16, 2017 with family by her side. Born in Clearland, Mahone Bay, Nova Scotia she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Evelyn (Oickle) Dorey.
Doris moved to the Annapolis Valley at the age of 13 and resided in Wolfville and New Minas for the remainder of her life. She worked for Sanisteam Laundry and worked as a housekeeper for various families but raising her children was her most important job. She loved reading, was a talented seamstress and an excellent cook.
Doris is survived by sisters Joan McCarthy of Ontario, Greda Reid of Clearland, two daughters, Nancy (Bob) Arnburg of Kentville, Sherry (Miles) Bishop (Joel LeBlanc) of Moncton, and son Marshall Miles of Dartmouth; grandchildren Carol, Michael, Doris Ellen, Jenny, Abby, Reagan and Breanna; great-grandchildren Ryan, Sarah, Megan and Scott and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her former husband Earl Miles of Sunken Lake Road, brother Douglas Dorey and sister Joyce Saulnier of Ontario, brother-in-laws Fred Reid and Delphis Saulnier of Ontario and granddaughter Nancy Lee Ramsay in infancy.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Lindsay Annapolis Valley Funeral Home & Chapels, Wolfville Chapel, 568 Main Street Wolfville (902-542-4656). Cremation has taken place.
Visitation will be held at the Serenity Funeral Home in Wolfville on Sunday January 22, 2017 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Wolfville Chapel. A family burial service will be held in Clearland, Mahone Bay at a later date. Family Flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Mental Health Association or a charity of choice.
