Doris Birchard – 2017

2017
Obituary Overview
In Loving Memory
Doris & Cecil Together Again
Doris passed away peacefully on Wednesday November 1, 2017, a few weeks after celebrating
her 90th birthday. In January 2016 she lost her husband and soul mate Cecil and never fully recovered from
the loss.
Doris is survived by her 5 sons, John (Marie) David (Leona), Randy (Cheryl), Kevin (Deb) and Tim (Trish);
13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and; one great-great -grandchild.
Doris grew up in Verwood where she and Cecil fell head over heels in love. In June, 1946 they married and purchased a farm near Verwood. They farmed there for 5 years, later moving to Readlyn. In June 1956, they packed up the family and moved to Avonhurst, where they remained until October, 1992, when they moved to Regina to be closer to their children and grandchildren. Family was very important to Mom. She was a loving mother with many talents, joyfully caring for her family as nurse, chef, barber and seamstress. She happily carried on when grandchildren arrived and loved nothing more than having the grandkids over for visits and sleepovers. Family
members were often blessed with sweaters, toques, slippers and so much more that Mom knitted or crocheted with her loving hands.
The family would like to thank the staff of College Park II for the care and compassion they gave Doris during her time there after Cecil’s passing.
A CELEBRATION OF DORIS’S LIFE will be held at Regina Funeral Home & Cemetery 4001 East Victoria Ave. Regina, SK on Thursday November 9th at 2:00 p.m.
