January 20, 1946 – December 22, 2016
It is with heavy hearts to announce the passing of a beautiful wife, mom, grandma, sister and auntie, Doreen Wright of Siksika Nation. Doreen passed away surrounded by her loved ones on Thursday, December 22nd, 2016 at the age of 70 years. Doreen is survived by her beloved husband George, children Cody (Randa), Jody, Lori (Alex), Leroy (Marsha), Cecile (Horton), Jillian, Bernadine (Kirk), Darren (Rhonda), Sam (Shannon), Clint (Pearl) and all her beloved grandchildren, especially Tiariah and Jarrett. Doreen is also survived by her siblings; Douglas (Maryann), Elaine (Roy), Errol Bear Hat, Ferris (Daisy) Smith, Lorraine AYM, Marilyn Lewis, Dwight (Debbie) Smith, Cheryl (Adrian) Solway and special sister in law Lucy (Ted), in laws; Pinky, Brian, Karen (Mario), Rusty and Doreen Jerry. Doreen was predeceased by her beloved daughter, Karen Lily and special grandmother in law Margaret Bad Boy, as well as other family members, too numerous to mention but were very dear to Doreen. Doreen was raised by her grandparents Paul & Nora Wolf Collar and was a true believer in the power of healing and a dedicated spiritual devout Catholic. Doreen attended Crowfoot Indian Residential School and later earned her Bachelor of Social Work at the U of C in 1998. She worked at Milo and Arrowwood schools and was recognized for distinction for her outstanding contribution as a Social Worker for over 20 years with Blackfoot Social Services. She also devoted her time to the Siksika Membership and Education Board of Directors. The family would like to thank; Dr. L. Lobay, Foothills, Vulcan and Strathmore hospitals, Siksika Home Care and Siksika Ambulance Services and to all the people for their continued thoughts, prayers and contributions during this most difficult time. Wake services will be held at the Sister Celine Parish Hall on Tuesday, Dec 27 at 6:00 pm and funeral service will be celebrated at Holy Trinity Catholic Church (Siksika Nation, AB) on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at 11:00 am. Graveside Service to follow at Paul Little Walker Cemetery (Siksika Nation, AB).
