RAYMOND, Diane (Dee) Alexis – After a Long and fulfilling life, Diane passed away on September 14, 2017. The eldest of three daughters of John Green Raymond and Constance (Teversham) Raymond, Diane was born in St. Boniface, Winnipeg, Manitoba on October 7th 1920. Her two sisters Patricia and Enid have both predeceased her. Diane obtained her Bachelor of Home Economics from the University of Manitoba in 1941 and then joined the Canadian Air Force, serving her Country as a food quality supervisor in the European theatre during the war until 1946. She returned to Montreal and worked for Eaton’s Food Services Quality Control from 1946 to 1961, and then as a Food Services professor at McDonald College, McGill University from 1961 until her retirement in 1985. She knew good food when she saw it. She obtained a Master of Science degree in dietary technology from the University of Pennsylvania in 1965 while at McGill. Upon her retirement, she moved to the Martintown area living in a country home until she relocated to Chateau Cornwall and finally to St. Joseph’s Villa. Diane was very involved with Trinity Anglican Church in Cornwall, serving on the Parish Council, the food cupboard and the Primate’s World Relief Fund. She was a founding member of The Beek Lindsay Senior’s Residence, helping to oversee the design and construction of the building on Augustus street and served as Secretary of the Board of Directors for over twenty years. She found time to volunteer for the Community Care Access Centre, The Agape Centre, the VON and the Encore Senior’s Education Centre just to name a few. She was very generous in contributing to many other charities and causes. She was the recipient of the Queen’s Jubilee Volunteer Award as well as a Certificate of Recognition from the Minister of Veteran’s Affairs. Diane leaves behind an extended family of nieces and nephews as well as many friends and acquaintances who will remember her well for her kindness, generosity, and easy smile. She was truly a remarkable woman. There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at Trinity Anglican Church, 105 Second Street west at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September
22, 2017. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Federation of University Women’s (CFUW) Scholarship Fund. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Wilson Funeral Home 822 Pitt Street, Cornwall. Online messages of condolence may be made in the obituary section of: www.wilsonfuneralhome.ca
