Jeremiah Melford “Jerry” Daley, age 81, of Irving Street, Westville passed away on Monday, May 22, 2017 in Valley View Villa.
Born in Westville, he was a son of the late Ernest and Elda (Crawford) Daley.
Jerry was a woodsman and a sawyer by trade, working with various lumber companies. In his earlier years, he worked with horses, snigging trees. His passion for horses continued for the rest of his life, keeping draft horses and attending horse pulls and horse races. He and his wife Mary also had a great love for pugs, having several for pets.
He is survived by brothers, Brenton (Sheila), Poplar Hill; Bobby (Katherine), Westville; Reg (Cathy), Westville; sisters, Jennie Gostock, New Glasgow; Jessie Landry (Jack), Port Hawkesbury; Betty Jean Sutherland (Gordon), Westville; sisters-in-law, Eileen Daley, Truro and Becky Daley, Westville; and many nieces and nephews.
Jerry was predeceased by his wife Mary Doreen (Sample) and brothers Gordon, Ian, Geordie, Douglas, and Jim.
Jerry is resting at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville with visiting on Wednesday from 6-9 p.m. His funeral service will be held 1 o’clock Thursday from Eagles Funeral Chapel, Westville. Burial will be in the Auburn Cemetery.
