Cynthia Smith
1922-2017
Cynthia Smith, 94, of South River Road, Antigonish, passed
away on Friday, June 30, 2017, at St. Martha’s Hospital, Antigonish,
surrounded by her family. She was born on July 19, 1922, in Little
Dover, Guysborough County, the daughter of the late John and Annie
(Sampson) Horne.
Cynthia was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Smith. She is
survived by her children, Sheila Rogers, Keswick, Ontario; Wayne
(Simone) Smith; Johnny (Barb) Smith; Elaine (Donnie) Statchook; Mary
Jean (John) MacPherson; David (Marian) Smith and Carol Ann Gavel, all
of Antigonish; 19 loving grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren; her
brother, Ambrose (Ruby) Horne, Antigonish; sisters-in-law, Margaret
Horne and Tina Horne, Little Dover; Agnes MacDougall, Antigonish,
Suzanne Horne, NL and brother-in-law, Robert MacDonald, Truro, as well
as many nieces and nephews.
She was also predeceased by her sisters, Jessie MacDougall,
Cleophas McKenna, Rose Haines and Lucy MacDonald and brothers, Isaac,
Walter, Robert, Louis and Pat.
Visitation 2 – 4
pm and 7 – 9 pm, Tuesday, July 4,
2017, in MacIsaac Funeral Home, 61 Pleasant Street, Antigonish. Mass
of Christian Burial 1:00pm, July 5, 2017, St.
Ninian’s Cathedral, Antigonish, Rev. Donald MacGillivray presiding.
