Born in Alder Point on September 19, 1935, he was the son of the late Charles and Mary (Jessome) Bonnar.
He spent many years working in White House, Tennessee, before moving back to Cape Breton with his companion, Evelyn Thurbide.
He leaves behind to mourn his daughter Janice (Bonnar) Stewart, son Brian Bonnar, both of Tennessee, and son Terry Bonnar, Florida. Also surviving are his grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, sister Doreen, brother Cyril, and sister-in-law Goldie (LeBlanc) Bonnar.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Gerald Bonnar, and sisters Helen and Theresa.
His family would like to thank the doctors and staff of 4B at the Regional Hospital for the great care he received in the last month, and a big thank you to Sherry at the VON.
In keeping with Charles’ wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral. A private family graveside service will take place at a later date. Words of comfort may be forwarded to his family at www.jmjobesfuneralhome.com
