Carolyn Jane MacPherson – 2016

Carolyn Jane MacPherson
On December 5, 2016, after lengthy illnesses faced with great
courage and deep faith, Carolyn Jane MacPherson passed peacefully from
this world into her heavenly home and the loving arms of her Lord and
Saviour. It was her faith in Jesus that saw her through so many
struggles, along with the love and support of her family and friends.
(2 Tim 4:7-8)
Carolyn was born in Petitcodiac, NB, on June 24, 1944, while
her father was overseas serving with the RCAF. The daughter of Dean
and Jean (Hicks) MacPherson, Carolyn grew up in Petitcodiac,
McKee’s Mills and Moncton, NB. Some of her favourite times
were those spent in the country helping her grandparents on the family
farm, spending time with her cousins and other family, summers with
her children at “the trailer”, and supporting and
caring for all her family.
After her time at Moncton High School, Carolyn married and
moved to Ottawa, ON, returning back to Moncton in 1967.
Carolyn worked at T. Eaton Co. Ltd until it closed. She then
upgraded her skills at New Brunswick Technical School to better
prepare herself for further employment, and then served for 18 years
with DND Depot #5 in Moncton. In her retirement she opened a small
business catering to needs of the elderly, “Your Will Be Done
Seniors Service.” Carolyn found true fulfillment in helping
others. Whether it was through supporting seniors in their homes,
serving in various ministries in her church, helping friends and
family with projects or faithfully upholding them in prayer, Carolyn
was at her best when helping people. Carolyn was also the recipient of
much-needed help and support from her friends and family as she
battled depression throughout her life.
Carolyn was a long-time member of First Moncton United
Baptist Church. Over the years she was active with the Evelyn Eaton
WMS group, served as a Sunday School teacher, teller, usher, hospital
visitor and on the Christian Education Board, participated in various
Bible study groups and care ministries (“Fed for
Life” monthly soup kitchen being a recent example), and was
an active supporter of New Life Mission, Touchstone Ministries and
Camp Wildwood.
Carolyn had a love and talent for gardening and photography,
enjoyed travelling locally and abroad, and in later years found great
joy in spending time with her three grandchildren. She is dearly
missed by her son Jamie (Sara) Patterson of Long Sault, ON, daughter
Christine (Craig) Bergman of Oakfield NS, grandchildren Emma &
Heath Patterson and Ella Bergman, brothers Delbert (Maisie) Hicks of
McKee’s Mills, Gary (Carol) MacPherson of Moncton and Terry
(Heather) MacPherson of Riverview, NB, as well as many cousins,
friends and her church family.
Carolyn’s family wishes to thank the staff of
McNair Manor, Dr. Jamie Stewart, the doctors and nurses of the
Oncology Clinic and Unit 4200 at the Moncton Hospital for their
excellent care and support. We are also grateful for the prayers,
visits, calls and support offered by family and friends. Blessings and
thanks from our hearts to yours.
Visitation at Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road,
Moncton (858-1995) on Tuesday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:30 to 8:30 pm. A
