Obituary for Carole Hogeland
In accordance with her wishes and with family by her side, Carole Anna Hogeland passed away peacefully at home near Frankford, Ontario, on November 29, 2016 at the age of 68 years. The first child of Mel and Irene Hogeland, Carole was born on July 24, 1948 in Brandon, Manitoba. She received her education at Alexandra Elementary, McLaren Junior High, and Harrison High Schools. Carole married Dwight Shiloff in 1968. They had two daughters and a son, who were the joys of Carole’s life. The family resided at Dauphin and Teulon in Manitoba, then in Nipigon, Ontario, before settling in Trenton, Ontario in 1975. Carole held various jobs while raising her children, and later found her true career calling in the nursing profession. In 1994, Carole graduated from the RPN program at Loyalist College and was named to the Dean’s Honour List. She was recently recognized for 20 years of continuous service with the Victorian Order of Nurses (VON), retiring as a dedicated home-care nurse only because of her own ill health. Carole married long-time partner Mike Bourgoin in 2006 and they were living their dream of rural life on an acreage near Frankford. Carole’s passion for growing plants and flowers was evident throughout their home and property. She always retained her Prairie roots and annually returned to Brandon for family visits. Carole was a devoted wife, and a caring Mom and Grandma. She is survived by her husband Mike, daughters Amber (Floyd) Ormsbee of Lisbon, New York; Tara Shiloff of Belleville, Ontario; son Tyler Shiloff of Trenton, Ontario; her grandchildren Deanna Snyder, Katrina Snyder, Logan Snyder, Dawson Shiloff and Mya Shiloff. Carole is also lovingly remembered by her mother, Irene Hogeland of Brandon; father-in-law Joe Bourgoin of Trenton, Ontario; sisters Donna Hogeland of Brandon, and Brenda (George) Froese of Rivers, Manitoba; as well as by numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and extended family members and friends both near and far. Carole was predeceased by her father, Mel Hogeland; mother-in-law Elma Bourgoin; brother-in-law Peter Wesley; and beloved canine family member “Beau”. Although Carole is gone far too soon, she has left countless precious memories. Anglican funeral service was held in Trenton, Ontario on December 2, 2016. Honouring Carole’s request, a Celebration of Life service will be held at Memories Chapel in Brandon on December 10, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. with Joe Ball officiating. Interment at Rosewood Memorial Gardens will take place at a later date. Donations in memory of Carole Hogeland may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society with the specific designation for “Uterine Cancer Research”.

Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de Carole
