Speers, Carol Leona
~ Carol (Merkley), in her
64th year, passed away at the Guelph General
Hospital on Saturday December 3rd, 2016 with
her family by her side.
Carol was married to her devoted husband Jerry for 41 years
and remains his dear life partner. She is the beloved mother of
Justin, Genne and Joshua. The loving daughter of Ida Merkley and the
late David Merkley. She remains the dearest sister of Linda (Jim
McCorkindale), Donna (Mike Foran), Frank (Kim) Raymond (Val).
Pre-deceased by brothers David and James. She will be sadly missed by
her sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews. Carol will always be
in the hearts and memories of her loving friends Jayne, Jan, Carmen,
Nancy, Beata and many more. Carol worked as a nurse at Guelph General
Hospital for over 40 years and will be fondly remembered by all of her
colleagues. Carol received support from many people over the last few
years. The family would like to thank; CCAC and particularly Dr.
Deborah Robinson and Bonita Losier, Dr. Thomas Morris and The Guelph
General Day Surgery for ongoing care, as well as the surgical care
nurses at the Guelph General Hospital for their generosity and devoted
care. They would also like to thank the staff at Princess Margaret
Hospital.
Everyone who met Carol was a fortunate soul.
A celebration of Carol’s life will be
held in the Tamarack Room at Springfield Golf and Country Club, 2054
Gordon St. Guelph on Thursday December 8, 2016 from 4:00 –
7:00 p.m. Chaplain Nancy Collett will say a few words
followed by sharing of memories at 5:30
p.m.
Arrangements entrusted to the

& Wilkie Funeral Home, One Delhi Street, Guelph.
Cremation has taken
place. Memorial contributions to the GGH Foundation-Day
Surgery or to Women In Crisis would be appreciated. We
