Captain Earl Freeman Tibbo – May 13, 1945 – December 01, 2016

Captain Earl Freeman Tibbo
With broken hearts and great sadness we announce the sudden passing of our husband, father, brother, grandfather, Captain Earl Freeman Tibbo, of Havre Boucher, on December 1st, 2016.
Born on May 13th, 1945, in St. Jacques, Newfoundland, Earl was the son of the late Captain Earl Tibbo Sr. and Hilda Ann (Rose) Tibbo.
Earl is survived by his loving wife of forty-five years, Sharline (Boudreau); sons Paul and Chuck (Laura); grandchildren Jade-Lynn, Dawson, Dean, Charleigh and Keiden; brothers Gerald (Anne-Marie), David (Nancy), Daniel (Rosanne); sister Ethel (Art) Roseborough, sisters-in-law Dorothy and Margaret; and many nieces and nephews.
Earl was predeceased by his brothers, George and Mackenzie (Mack), and sister, Barbara Maro.
Earl moved to East Chezzetcook, Nova Scotia with his parents and siblings in 1947. When he moved to Mulgrave in the early 1960’s he began fishing with Acadia Fisheries on the side trawlers; his career later moved to Halifax to work for the Bedford Institute of Oceanography. Earl moved his family to Havre Boucher in 1984 and worked on the trawlers outside of Canso until the offshore fishery was shut down. He then went on to Captain the pilot boats for SuperPort Marine Services until his retirement this past year.
Earl was first and foremost a family man. Earl was devoted to his wife Sharline and a proud father to his sons Paul and Chuck. He was especially proud of his grandchildren. Earl will forever be remembered for his big smile, sarcastic humour and quick wit. Earl loved fishing, laughing and telling stories, having a drink with his family or friends, spending time with his grandchildren, and of course, talking about the weather. Earl will be dearly missed by his family, friends and “four-legged” buddy Gizmo. His legacy will live on in the family and friends he leaves behind.
Visitation will be held at St. Paul’s Centre, Havre Boucher on Monday, December 5th, 2016 from 1:00pm to 5:00pm. As per Earl’s wishes, a private ceremony will be held for family.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Green’s Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. www.greensfuneralhome.ca
