Betty Jones, of Hanover, passed away peacefully at Hanover Care Centre, Hanover on Saturday, February 04, 2017. She was 85.
Born on August 6, 1931 in Toronto, Ontario to the late Walter and Betty (nee Lettau) Bates. Betty and Dennis built, owned and operated Jones Variety at the 10-4 junction for 17 years. After that, she became a farm wife alongside her husband and then re entered the workforce as a clerk at A&P until she retired.
Survived by daughters Debra (Calvin) Charlton of RR# 1 Hanover, Lynn (Ronald) St. Onge of RR#3 Hanover, son Edward (Peggy) Jones of Kingston. Loved by her grandchildren David, Amanda, Robin, Tracy (Jeff), Tim (Natasha), Arthur and Bradley. Loving great grandmother of Dustin, Halie, Colton, Kassidy and Liam. Fondly remembered by her siblings Jack (June) Bates, Ralph (Vicky) Bates, Tom Bates and sister in law Jackie Bates. Loved by her many nieces and nephews and their families. Predeceased by her beloved husband Dennis Jones in 2004, son Morris (1965), grandson Jason Charlton (1999), brothers Gordon, Fred, Stewart, Harry, sisters Grace Bates, Evelyn Knap and Jean Manser.
Visitation will be held at Mighton Funeral Home, Hanover, on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm where a Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, February 08, 2017 at 11:00 am. Interment in Hanover Cemetery.
Memorial donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
