Arthur R. Jones
1919-2017
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Arthur
Russell Jones on March 12, 2017 at the age of 97 which occurred at the
Falls Villa in Grand Falls, NB. He was born to the late Alvin and Eva
May Jones on May 29, 1919 in Point de Bute, NB.
Arthur served in WWII in The First Special Service Force. He recently
received the French Legion of Honor Medal as a Knight. He worked for
the Power Commission until retirement. He and his wife Olga spent the
majority of their 70 years of marriage living in Upper Kent, NB. Artie
enjoyed nature, walking in the woods, his camp and his family. He
liked to keep up on world events. He was always willing to lend a hand
or offer a friendly word of advice.
Arthur is survived by his children, Carol Grant and Alan Jones (Kim);
grandchildren, Emily Jones, Aaron Jones (Tanya), Melissa Jones and
Haley Jones (Stefan Mieto); great grandchildren, Whitney Sipprell,
Colden Sipprell, Liam Mieto, Rachael Jones, Morgan and Casey Buxton as
well as nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his wife, Olga; son, Roger. He was the last
surviving member of a large family.
Visitation will be held from L.R. Giberson Funeral Directors, 207
Burnham Rd. Florenceville-Bristol on Wednesday, March 15, 2017 from
5-8 pm. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 16, 2017 at
2:00 pm from the L.R. Giberson Funeral Chapel. Murray McCandless will
officiate. Interment will be in the Wharton Cemetery at a later date.
Donations made to the Wharton Cemetery, Royal Canadian Legion or the
