It’s with sadness and immense gratitude for a life well lived that we announce the passing of Annie Parley Shortill (nee Lawrence) on Saturday, November 11, 2017.
Annie was born on February 10, 1915 in Cairnorchies, Scotland and immigrated with her family to a farm in the Bittern Lake | Duhamel area of Alberta. She married Robert Murray Shortill (deceased) and raised four children Roger (Martha Jo), Ralph (June), Jane Taschuk (deceased), and Brenda Terpstra (Simon deceased). Annie was blessed with eleven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren to whom she has been a profound and wonderful role model for how to live your life. Over the years Annie also made a difference to many neighbourhood and foster children. She and Murray had an interest and passion for the Alberta Aviation Museum and along with many other people it became a going concern in a hangar on Kingsway Avenue in Edmonton.
The family thanks the staff of St. Joseph’s Auxiliary Hospital, Rosewood Unit in Edmonton for their loving care and attention during her final days.
Donations in Annie’s memory may be made to either the Alberta Aviation Museum or St. Joseph’s Auxiliary Hospital.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at Connelly-McKinley Funeral Home, 10011 – 114 Street, Edmonton, Alberta at 2:00 p.m. Private interment at Onoway, Alberta.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Annie Shortill – of Edmonton
