ANNE BLAIN (LEHMANN)
1918-2017
With sadness we announce the passing of Anne Blain at her residence in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba on August 9, 2017 in the 98th year of a full life.
A funeral service to honour Anne’s life will be held on Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at the Good Shepherd Catholic Church, Portage la Prairie, Manitoba followed by interment at Green Acres Cemetery, Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Born to Andrew and Catherine Boss in Rossdale, Manitoba, Anne was raised with seven beloved brothers and sisters with whom she maintained lifelong close relationships.
Anne collected an ever widening circle of family and friends while she lived in Winnipeg, Westbourne and Portage La Prairie as well as a few years in the Elm Creek and Thunderbay areas. Through her marriages, she embraced children and in-laws and her circle grew. She regularly phoned, wrote cards and letters and accepted every invitation to gatherings to keep up her contacts with family and friends. She was a people person, a great cook and her home always welcoming.
With an ever positive outlook, she threw her energies into whatever she was doing, whether it was assembling fighter planes during WWII, as a farm wife or later at MCains, and especially as a mother. Family say she was the glue that kept everyone connected.
Anne always enjoyed the company of others. She regularly attended church, visited friends in the hospital and care home as well as participated in exercise classes, casino bus tours and dancing. She was an avid gardener, could make anything grow and especially loved her roses.
Anne was predeceased by her parents, six siblings and husbands Mark Lehmann, Joe Maicher and Lorne Blain. She is survived by her three sons from her marriage to Mark- Glenn (Sandra), grandson Trevor; Garry (Linda), grandchildren: Heather (Joe), Shannon (Landon) and Daniel; Ron (Elaine), grandsons: Mark (Lynne), Matthew and Sean; six great grand children; her sister Jenny Keba of Delhi, Ontario and numerous nieces and nephews in the Boss and Lehmann families; Debbie Rumancik, Ken, Rick and Linda Maicher and their families; Susan Herringer (Ed); Jim (Debby), David (Pat), Donald (Madelaine) Blain and their families.
If friends so desire, memorial donations in memory of Anne may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
