Andrew passed away on Friday, July 14 2017 at the
Villa Sormany, formerly of College Street,
Bathurst. Andy as he was known to all
his friends, was born in 1927 in Beaverbrook, Northumberland County,
son of the late Telesphore and Mary Rose Cormier.
When
Andy was very young his parents moved to a settlement about 15 miles
north of Bathurst.
He was born with a great deformity of two club feet
and when he was around nine years old he was blessed to come in
contact with a great Samaritan named, Joe Dunlop of
Bathurst. Mr. Dunlop arranged to have
Andy brought to the BathurstHospital to have his feet straightened by a wonderful doctor
called, Dr. Coffin. After over one year in the
hospital, Mr. Dunlop took him to his home in Bathurst to get the care he would need
for a few years, and start to get him educated.
Now Andy
became the foster son of Mr. and Mrs. Dunlop, who have long since left
this world, but Andy has never forgotten the great love and kindness
he received from them both.
After high school, Andy accepted a position with
Kent
Sales then a branch of the former W.J. Kent and
Company. After nine years at
Kent Sales he joined Simpsons Sears, now known as Sears
Canada Inc. where he retired after over thirty years of service in
1984.
Andy attended HolyFamilyChurch and was one of the founding
members of Monsignor William Varrily Knights of Columbus Council no.
12031. He had great faith in Saint
Jude, and claimed to have received a number of miracles from his
favorite Saint.
Andy loved hunting and fishing which he did for over
50 years with his great friend Norman
Henry.
His is survived by one son, Andrew Marvin, (Rejeanne)
of Petit-Rocher; one daughter, Mari-Beth Brimble (Steve) of
Nanaimo
B.C.; six grandchildren: Christopher, Jamie, Cindy, Tristan, Scott and
Craig; loving great grandchildren: Harrison, Malcolm and
Colton.
He was predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Joan
(Salter) Cormier and one son, Micheal
Dunlop.
As per Andy’s request there will be no visitation at
the funeral home. Funeral Service will be
celebrated on Monday, July 17 2017 from the Elhatton Funeral Home
Chapel (www.elhatton.com).
