Allan George Oelke
Allan George Oelke, resident of the County of Grande Prairie, passed away Saturday, May 27, 2017, after a battle with cancerp, at Points West Hospice, at the age of 70 years.
Allan was born in Lacombe, AB, on January 18, 1947. He started his business in Calgary repairing vehicles. He moved to Grande Prairie and started Alken Automotives and Machine Shop Ltd.
He was a hardworking, giving, ethical man, with a smile always on his face.
Allan raced stock cars at the GP Speedway, Edmonton, Calgary, Hinton, Prince George and Calmar.
He will be sadly missed by his wife of 49 years Mavis, children: Lora Wardill (nee Oelke), and Glen Oelke; grandchildren: Evan and Sara Oelke; brother Kenneth Oelke (Linda Lou); nephew Jim Oelke; niece Shauna (Gordon) Pittman; and great-nephews: Sheldon and Dwight Pittman. He is also survived by many brothers and sisters in-law, nieces, and nephews too numerous to mention.
He was predeceased by his parents Marvin and Evelyn Oelke and father and mother in-law Frank and Evelyn Letendre.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, August 5, 2017, at 1:00pm, at the Oelke’s Place (720032 RR62 Clairmont, AB).
Memorial donations may be made to Canadian Cancer Society (200, 325 Manning Road NE, Calgary, AB T2E 2P5).
The family would like to thank the Staff at Points West Hospice for the care shown to Allan during his stay.
