Alice Margaret King passed away peacefully at the Intercare Southwood Hospice on Thursday, December 14, 2017.
Alice, the oldest of 7 children, was born in Vulcan Alberta. She studied at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Edmonton to become an RN. She later returned to the University of Calgary to earn her BSc in Nursing. She was active at St. Barnabas Anglican Church as a member of both the Alter Guild and the Choir. She and her husband Ralph spent many years as members of the Calgary Rock and Lapidary Club. In her later years, Alice was an active member of the community at McEwan Ridge Villas. Alice was a kind and thoughtful person who spent her days extending her nursing skills to those who needed them.
Alice was predeceased by her husband Ralph King, brothers Bill Herdman, Stan Herdman, and her sister Dayle Smith. She leaves behind her sons, Jim King (Marilyn) of St. Albert Alberta, Doug King (May) of Calgary AB; grandchildren Lindsay (Matthew) and Gordon (Jesse); great grandchildren Corbin and Lowell. She also leaves her sisters Kay Carmichael (Mike), Carol Kleinjans and her brother Wayne Herdman (Betty) and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation at Mountain View Funeral Home (1605—100 Street SE, Calgary) on Friday December 29, 2017 from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Funeral Services will be at St Barnabas Anglican Church, (1407 – 7 Avenue N.W.
Calgary) on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with reception to follow at church. Graveside service to follow at Mountain View Memorial Gardens (1515 – 100 Street SE., Calgary).
