Alexandra (Andrea) Wilhelmina Coates
Alexandra (Andrea) Wilhelmina Coates, age 94, went to be with
her Lord and Savior on Wednesday evening, January 18, 2017 at The
Moncton Hospital, with her family at her side. Born in Penicuik,
Scotland, daughter of the late Alexander and Margaret (Porteous)
McNeill, arrived in Canada with family at age 3
½.
Andrea worked for the family business, A. H. Coates, and
Rosewood Park. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church and loved
to sew, knit, quilt, crochet and cook, especially apple
pies.
Andrea will be lovingly remembered and missed by three sons,
Ralph (Cheryl Taylor), Allan (Linda Curwin) and Stewart (Nancy
Kinnear), all of Moncton and three daughters, Margaret Estabrooks
(Clinton) of Dieppe, Louise O’Brien (Kenneth) of Halifax, NS
and Sheila Goertzen (late Roy) of Prince Albert, SK; 17 grandchildren,
Karen, Kathy, Sheri, Shelley, Heather, Jennifer, Wendy, Rob, Greg,
Michael, Aldon, Sherrill, Jeff, Carrie, Tina, Tom and Teri; 32 great
grandchildren and several nephews and nieces.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her loving
husband, Aldon H. Coates (January 1997); sister, Margaret Jones
(Dalton) and brothers, Douglas (Jean), John (Nellie, Kay) and Frank
(Rita).
Visitation at Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road,
Moncton (885-1995) on Sunday from 6:00 to 9:00 pm and on Monday,
January 23, 2017 from 12:30 until the time of service at 1:30 pm in
Fergusons Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Robert Payne officiating.
Reception in the Funeral Home Reception Centre following the service.
Interment will be held in Elmwood Cemetery in the
spring.
In lieu of flowers, in Andrea’s memory, donations
to the Friends of The Moncton Hospital, Emmanuel Baptist Church
Building Fund or a memorial of the donor’s choice would be
