2017
After a lengthy illness, Innis passed
away at home with Alice, his wife of 58 years, at his
side.
Innis was predeceased by his parents, Rupert and
Hannah (MacInnis) Freeman, as well as his only sibling, Frank
“Babe” and his daughter, Stacey (Freeman) Crowell.
Innis is survived by his wife, Alice, his children, Scott, Lesa,
Loralie, Leslie and Allison, nine grandchildren, and a grand nephew,
Stacey’s son, Isaac.
A fierce community person, over the years Innis
was involved as a board member of Mill Road Social Enterprises (the
former Cottage Workshop), was a member of the Arm of Gold Shriners,
Inverness Hospital Foundation, Inverness Development Association,
Capers Snowmobile Club, Arthritis Society, Inverness Arena Commission
and Inverness Kinsmen Club. He was also a member of both the Royal
Canadian Legion and the Masonic Temple.
Cremation has taken place. Innis’
visitation will take place from 10 a.m. -12 p.m. followed by a
Celebration of Life that will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, April 29 both
in St. Matthew’s United Church, Inverness with Pastor Maggie
Plant officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St.
Matthew’s Memorial Fund, Mill Road Social Enterprises, Central
Inverness Palliative Care, or any charity of your
choice.
