(March 5 1927 December 27 2017)
In the quiet comfort of her home, surrounded by the love of her family, Agnes Patricia O’Keefe entered into eternal life with her heavenly father on December 27th, 2017. She reunited with the love of her life, Phil, on the day that they would have celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary.
Agnes was born the 8th of 10 children to Peter and Agnes (Quigley) Kent of Bell Island. After her school years, Agnes attended college to become an educator. In 1948, she married Phil O’Keefe (Pouch Cove) and together they spent 63 years as devoted partners and parents. Together they worked tirelessly to raise and educate their 5 sons and 2 daughters to ensure they had every opportunity to build successful lives.
Predeceased by her loving husband – Phil, son – Gary, son-in-law – Barry Winsor, parents, sisters – Mary, Elizabeth (Liz), and Alice, brothers – Edward (Ned), Terrence (Ted), Peter, John (Jack), and Richard.
Left to celebrate her life are her loving children – Glenn (Maureen), Dennis (Claire), daughter-in-law Anne, Philip (Carol), Paul (Marie), Sandra Adams (Vandy), Karen Winsor (Michael); grandchildren – Kelly Layden (Stan), Glenn Jr. (Melissa), and Michael (Sara); Erin (Adam Pennell), Colin, Ryan, and Scott (Becky); Katie; Kara, Mark, and Alysa; Philip, Devon, and Chloe; Janelle Power (Colin) and Brad Adams; Haley and Grant Winsor; and her very special great- grandchildren – Evan and Ethan Layden, Riley, Kate and Lauren Pennell, Ava O’Keefe, Mia and Max O’Keefe and baby Power on the way. Also left to mourn, her sister, Catherine Carpentier (Albert), as well as a large circle of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
The family will be eternally grateful to her caregivers – Loriann, who became her caregiver and part of our family 5 ½ years ago, and Shirley who came to us in June when we needed her most. Mom was truly blessed to be in their care.
Resting at Caul’s Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road, with visitation Thursday, December 28th and Friday, December 29th from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. Gentle woman, quiet light, morning star so strong and bright; gentle mother, peaceful dove, teach us wisdom, teach us love.
When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure. Mom you will hold a special place in all of our hearts forever. We will cherish and be eternally grateful for all of the precious memories that we are so privileged to have, because you were such a selfless mother.
