Adam Kosar
October 19, 1940 – November 30, 2017
The family of the late Adam Kosar of Buchanan, SK, announce his passing at the Royal University Hospital, Saskatoon, SK, on November 30, 2017, at the age of 77 years. Adam was born in the Canora Union Hospital on October 19, 1940 to Mike and Katie (Nicolichuk) Kosar. He was the youngest of five siblings. Adam and his family lived on the family farm in the Tiny area. He spent his younger years on the farm and attended school at Crooked Hill Creek. On October 10, 1964, Adam married his lifetime love, Shirley Kozak. Adam and Shirley started their lives together in Regina, SK, where Adam began his lifelong career as an electrician. In January 1968, they were blessed with their only son, Scott. In June 1972, Adam and Shirley moved their little family to Canora, SK and started their business ‘A & S Electric.’ The mid 80’s saw a short move to Saskatoon, but a return to Buchanan in 1988 was their final move, as they were back home to stay. Adam became quite active in the Buchanan area, as he served on many boards and committees. He enjoyed his time as a councillor, alderman and eventually as Mayor of Buchanan. In 2009, Adam and Shirley welcomed their granddaughter Natalie, who was the “apple of her grandpa’s eye.” Adam enjoyed his retirement, with time spent playing cards, hunting, fishing and helping the neighbours. He loved being an electrician and spent many hours helping others with their electrical needs. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. Adam is lovingly remembered by those he leaves behind: his wife, Shirley; son Scott (Jen); granddaughter, Natalie; sister, Elizabeth Pura and sister-in-law, Emily Kosar; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Adam left this world to join his parents, Mike and Katie; mother-in-law, Pauline Kozak; siblings: Henry, Mike and Albert; as well as his life-long friend, Russell Baron. A Memorial Mass will take place at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, December 5, 2017, at St. Anne’s Roman Catholic Church, Buchanan, SK with Rev. Fr. Michal Pajak, OMI, as Celebrant. Rite of Committal will follow in Czeremchiniw Polish Cemetery, southwest of Buchanan, SK. Those wishing to make expressions of sympathy may make donations to the Buchanan Community Centre Playground Fund, as tokens of remembrance, in memory of Adam Kosar.
