It is with heavy hearts we, the family of Ada Bungay, announce her passing on August 5, 2017, at the Northside General Hospital surrounded with our love.
Born September 6, 1928 in Sydney Mines, Cape Breton, she was the daughter of the Late Joseph & Lillian (Thomas) Roberts.
She dedicated her life to raising and protecting her five children and cherished every moment she got to spend with them. She was strong, and wise and her sense of humor was so precious, a quiet and gentle soul but strong and feisty when she needed to be. She missed her husband deeply and now joins him in heaven to watch over us once more.
Ada is survived by daughters Jane (Cyprian) LeBlanc, Georgena (Wilfred) Jessome, Ann (Gary) Spencer, and sons Robert (Colleen) Bungay, Art (Yasuyo) Bungay, and sister Ethel Selskey. She was deeply loved by her grandchildren, Michael and Lora Lee Jessome , Roger, Suzanne and Adam LeBlanc, Stacy Bungay, Devon and Mandy Spencer, and Kai Bungay. She is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by husband of 67 years, George Bungay, brothers Arthur Roberts, James Roberts and Rupert Roberts and grandchildren Melaney, Nicole, and Wilfred.
The family would like to thank friends and family for their love and support and special thanks to Dr. Elizabeth McCormick and Dr. John Ritter and the extraordinary staff of Northside General Hospital, Palliative Care, VON, EHS and County Homemakers for their kindness and care for our Mom.
There will be no visitation. A celebration of her life will take place Wednesday, August 9, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. in Trinity Anglican Church, Sydney Mines, with Rev. Stacey LeMoine officiating. The burial will be in Trinity Anglican Cemetery, Tobin Rd., Sydney Mines. A reception will be held in Grandy Hall, after the service. Memorial donations in Ada’s memory can be made to the Cape Breton Cancer Center or the Hospice Palliative Care Society of Cape Breton.
