December 10 2017
With heavy hearts, the family of Doreen Beals announces her passing, which occurred on Sunday, December 10th, 2017, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Doreen was born in Saint John on January 23, 1933; a daughter of the late James and Gladys (Munford) McConnell, and the loving wife of the late Ronald Beals. During her working years, Doreen was a waitress with several area restaurants, and enjoyed spending time at the trailer at Grand Lake with her lake family. Most importantly, she loved spending time with her grandchildren; they were her pride and joy; she was strongly involved in their lives.
Doreen is survived by her sons Ronald (Kathy) and Malcolm (April), grandchildren Jillian, Alex, and Kyle; sister Dorothy McCoy-Fillmore and brother James (the late Joan) McConnell, sister-in-law Phyliss McConnell-Mont, brother-in-law Francis Major, as well as many nieces and nephews. Doreen is also fondly remembered by her lake family. Along with her husband and parents, Doreen was predeceased by her sister Shirley Major, and a brother, Donald McConnell. A celebration of Doreen’s life will be held on Saturday, December 16th from 2-4 p.m. at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424). In lieu of flowers, remembrances to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
