Obituary for David Schofield
SCHOFIELD, Albert “David” – Passed away very peacefully at Sakura House, Woodstock on Thursday September 28, 2017 in his 85th year. Beloved husband of the late Christena Schofield (March, 2017). Dear father of Steve (Sue Davis) Schofield, Janet (Jeff) Hunsberger and Trish (Colin) Arlidge. Cherished grandfather of Eric, Grace, Luke, Emily, Sarah, Kip and Scott. David is predeceased his parents Arthur and Mary and siblings Margaret, Marion, Francis, Pearl, Walter and Douglas. He is fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews across Canada. David worked at Timberjack as a heavy duty equipment mechanic for research and development. He was an avid outdoorsman and always looked forward to his yearly hunting and fishing trips in northern Ontario. He was a member of the Oxford Fish and Game Club and also won many trophies in archery. In his retirement he found many antique treasures to collect and refinish which he generously shared with family and friends. David was the original “Canadian Picker”. He enjoyed playing a good game of euchre and traveling out to Nova Scotia to visit the MacDonald and Schofield families. He will be very sadly missed by his family and friends. Cremation has taken place and a graveside service at the St. Mary’s Cemetery in Woodstock will take place at a later date. If desired, memorial contributions to Sakura House or a charity of ones choice would be appreciated by the family and can be made through the Brock and Visser Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Ave., Woodstock, 519-539-0004.
