Miley C. Jones, 93, of K.E. Spencer
Memorial Home and formerly of the Lewisville area, passed away
peacefully at The Moncton Hospital on Saturday, January 28, 2017, with
his loving family by his side. Born in Gladeside, NB, he was
the son of the late Ora and Lucy (Lowther) Jones.
In his earlier years, Miley worked as a farmer and moved to
Moncton in 1957 where he had a 25 year career with Willett Fruit Co.
as a driver and warehouse foreman. He was a member of Gladeside
Baptist Church and attended Highfield Baptist Church. He was
a former member of the Mountain Ridge Stars Square Dance Club and
Hoban’s Heroes Round Dance Club. Miley was also the past
president of the CBRT and GW Unions and was an honorary member of the
Minto Senior Citizen’s Club. Miley enjoyed
spending time with his family, he was an avid outdoorsman who loved to
go camping and travelling. He especially enjoyed the
summers at Grand Lake in “Miley’s
Cabin”.
Miley will be sadly missed by his son, Cecil (Diane) of
Riverview, daughter, Sharlene Jones (Bev McKay) of Moncton and
Chipman; grandchildren, David (Jill) of Morell, PE, Paul (Kim) of
Lower Coverdale, Peter (Susan) of Lewis Mountain; great grandchildren,
Alexander, Evan, Spencer, Ryan, Sophia, Chloe, Caleb and Sarah;
sister, Greta Steeves of Lower Coverdale; several nieces, nephews and
extended family members. In addition to his parents, Miley was
predeceased by his wife, Elsie (Heskett) Jones (2005), brothers,
Miner, Clinton, Elmer, Vernon and Ronald; sisters, Hilda Leger, Emily
Scott, Ruby Fairweather and Ella Christopher.
Visitation at Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road,
Moncton (858-1995) on Tuesday from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 7:00
to 9:00 pm . A Service to celebrate and honor
Miley’s life will be held at Fergusons Funeral Home Chapel
on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at 11:00 am with Rev. Greg Sparkes
officiating. Reception in the Funeral Home Reception Centre following
the service. Interment will be held in Fair Haven
Memorial Gardens.
The family would like to thank the staff of K.E. Spencer
Memorial Home (Applegrove) and the nurses of 4200 at The Moncton
Hospital for the care and compassion given to Miley during his
stay.
In Miley’s memory, donations to Gladeside Baptist
Church Building Fund, Alzheimer Society or charity of the
donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family. Online
