Obituary
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of the late Walter Garfield Lawrence, announce his peaceful passing on Saturday January 18th 2025 at the Dr. Charles L LeGrow Health Centre with his brother Willis by his side, at the age of 81 years. Born in Burnt Islands, NL Walter was the son of the late Willis and Nellie Lawrence, who past in 1954 and 2008, respectively. He was also predeceased by his brother Earl Lawrence in 1978 and brother Gerald Lawrence in 2012.
Leaving to mourn; his brother Willis (Viola) Lawrence, of Rose Blanche, brother Bill (Beatrice) Lawrence, of Isle aux Morts, sister Ada (Bill) Hardy, of Fox Creek, Alberta and adopted brother Roy Lawrence and sisters in law Ethel Lawrence and Christine Lawrence. Walter also leaves a large circle of nieces, nephews and many friends.
The family will be forever thankful and appreciative of the caregivers that Walter had over the last several years. Many thanks to Sharon Lawrence, Susan Croucher and Janice Hatcher. Walter was a hard working man willing to lead a hand to anyone. He was well known in his community and always there to help out at his beloved church. He will be missed.
Family and friends are welcome to visit on Monday, January 20th 2025, 2PM at St. George’s Anglican Church in Burnt Islands, NL. With the funeral taking place on Tuesday January 21st, 2025 at 2 PM, officiated by Rev. John Billard. Interment to follow at Hillside Haven Cemetery. Donations in Walter’s memory can be made to St. George’s Church or to a charity of one’s choice.
