In Loving Memory of Theresa Marie “Tarz” (Nee Beneteau) Bombardier
April 26, 1933 – March 26, 2025
“Well done, good and faithful servant… enter into the joy of your Lord.” – Matthew 25:23
With profound sadness and unwavering faith in Christ’s promise of eternal life, we announce the passing of Theresa, who was called home to the Lord on March 26, 2025 at the age of 91. She passed peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, leaving behind a legacy of faith, compassion, and selfless service.
She was a devoted wife of Alfred Bombardier for 56 years (2012). Loving mother of Patricia and husband Patrick Docherty of Maidstone, Daniel Bombardier of London, Diane Bombardier of Amherstburg, Lynn and husband Jerry Peelar of Amherstburg. Cherished Meme to Jennifer and husband Wes Fleming, Stephen Docherty and wife Krystal,
Bryce Docherty and wife Dorothy, Shane Peelar and wife Taylor, and great-grandmother of Benjamin, Camden, Declan, Andrew and Hadean. Though she will be deeply missed, we find solace in the promise of Christ: “I am the resurrection and the life; whoever believes in me, even if he dies, will live” (John 11:25).
Born on April 26, 1933, Theresa answered God’s call to care for others, becoming a nurse in 1954. With gentle hands and a kind heart, she ministered to the sick and suffering, living out the healing love of Christ in her vocation. She spent most of her career working with newborn babies in the neonatal care unit at the Hôtel Dieu Hospital in Windsor. Her patients were blessed not only by her skill but also by her deep empathy and unwavering dedication.
A devout member of Sacred Heart Parish in LaSalle, Theresa was a woman of prayer and strong Catholic faith. She lived the Gospel daily through acts of kindness, always placing the needs of others before her own. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated staff of Extendicare Tecumseh for their compassionate care and support of our dear mother.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday, April 2 from 2-5pm and 7-9pm at Families First Funeral Home, 585 Sandwich St. South, Amherstburg (519-969-5841). Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Parish, 1425 Divine Street LaSalle on Thursday, April 3 at 11 am, with visitation 1 hour prior to the mass. Interment to follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May she rest in peace.
“Au ciel, au ciel, au ciel! J’irai la voir un jour.”
