It is with broken hearts that the family announce the passing of Steven Bruce Wooldridge of Toney River on February 16, 2025 at home, at the age of 63. After a well fought battle with thymic carcinoma Steven’s pain has ended. Steven was born in Pictou County on January 3, 1962, he was the only son of the late Bruce and Myrtle (Fraser) Wooldridge. He will be sadly missed by family and friends. Steven is survived by his four sisters, Carolyn Elliott, Shirley Rankin, Jessie (Ron) Cheverie and Mary Wooldridge (Burns) Elliott. Steven was an uncle to Bruce, Bradley and Blaine Elliott, Caralei Myrtle (Joseph) White, Sandy Rankin, Lynda (Jamie) Gilbert, Ronnie (Jessica) Cheverie, Amy and Emily Elliott. Steven was predeceased by his brothers-in-law, Alex Rankin and William ‘Bill’ Elliott. Steven attended the one room schoolhouse in Toney River and West Pictou High School. He worked at the Toney River Hybrid Hog Farm for many years and then became a fishermen’s helper. Steven’s last workplace was Scotsburn Lumber Ltd. A special thank you to Dr. Ufondu, Dr. Robinson and Dr. Plourde for their care and compassion. Steven felt very blessed for the great care he received at the Aberdeen ATC Unit, second floor and the friendships he had made. Sobeys Pharmacy (Pictou) your care was above and beyond. Scotsburn Lumber and staff your thoughtfulness and support was absolutely wonderful, Steven considered you as family. Community and friends, Steven was very thankful and felt the love from all the angels who cared and supported him on his journey. The family would like to thank everyone for their kindness, concern and prayers.
Thank you to the RCMP and attending EMS. Please give the gift of life and donate blood and platelets. Steven felt truly loved and blessed to receive this gift. Steven’s family wishes to express our thanks to the staff at McLaren Funeral Home. Thank you for your sympathetic professionalism during this difficult time. Your kindness and attention to detail really helped us and we are grateful. At his request, cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held Monday February 24th from 1-3 PM in St. David’s Presbyterian Church, Toney River, with the service to follow at 3 PM, Jacquie Ross officiating. Private family interment will be held. Donations in Steven’s memory may be made to the Riverbank Cemetery in Toney Mills, 1720 Toney River, Pictou County, N.S. B0K 1N0.
