Robert Joseph “Bud” Ouellette, a man of remarkable spirit and joy, stepped into eternal life on February 14, 2025, three days shy of his 80th birthday, in his hometown of LaSalle, Ontario—where his story began and gently drew to a close.
Born on February 17, 1945, in LaSalle, Bud’s life was a testament to the power of love, family, and dedication. He was the kind of man who brought light and laughter into the lives of all who knew him. Bud’s journey through life was shared with the love of his life, Rose Ann Ouellette (nee Renaud), his cherished wife of 58 years, whose companionship and support were the cornerstones of his happiness.
A devoted and loving father, Bud’s legacy lives on through his children, Theresa (Rolf) Klein and Bob (Sandra) Ouellette. His role as “Papooh” was one of his most treasured—Joshua (Hannah) Klein, Rebecca (Mitchell) Coder, Leah Klein, Jesse Ouellette, and Jordan Ouellette all benefited from his wisdom, warmth, and the occasional mischievous twinkle in his eye. The joy of his life multiplied with the arrival of his great-grandchildren, Iver Klein and Imogen “Ginny” Klein, who will grow up hearing legendary tales of their beloved great grandfather.
Bud’s family circle included his adored sister Darlene (Vic) Bernyk, his sister-in-law Camille Ouellette, and he was a special uncle Bud to many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Archille and Virginia Ouellette, and his brother, Donald Ouellette, leaving behind a rich tapestry of memories and a family that will forever feel his influence in their hearts.
Professionally, Bud dedicated 30 years to Chrysler Canada, a tenure that he was immensely proud of, matched only by the pride he took in his subsequent 30 years of well-deserved retirement. His work ethic was as much a part of him as his jovial nature, and both were equally respected by his colleagues and friends.
Retirement allowed Bud to indulge in his passions and spend invaluable time with his family. He was an enthusiast of all sports, often found with a cold beer in hand, cheering on his favorite teams. His green thumb was evident in the beautiful gardens he cultivated, and his love of the outdoors extended to joyous camping trips with his loved ones. Summers were never complete without Bud’s presence, swimming and splashing in the pool with his grandkids, creating memories that would last a lifetime.
Bud’s approach to life was simple yet profound—be present. His ability to be truly with his family, to support them in every endeavor, and to celebrate each moment, big or small, defined the man he was. His absence will be felt deeply, but his influence remains a guiding light.
In his passing, Bud leaves behind a legacy of love, a blueprint for what it means to be a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. As we bid farewell to Robert Joseph “Bud” Ouellette, we do so with full hearts, knowing that his story does not end here. It continues in the laughter of his grandchildren, the blooming of the flowers in his garden, and the countless memories shared by all who were blessed to know him. Rest in peace, Bud, and thank you for a lifetime of joy and love.
Bud was a very proud to be a member of Local 444, and Knights of Columbus.
