Obituary of Peter Andrews
ANDREWS, Peter- Age 94 of Halifax, it is with broken hearts that we his family announce the passing of Peter Andrews at Cobequid Community Health Center, Lower Sackville. Born in England, he was the son of the late Walter and Kate (Spence) Andrews.
In 1956 Peter and his family immigrated to Canada from Cottingham, England to start a new life. He was a gentle, kind man with a wonderful spirit who always put his family first. In Peter’s younger years, he loved to long distance cycle and play soccer. Peter managed Sunbeam Appliances Center in Halifax for many years. After retirement, he worked for the Bridge Commission as a special constable. Peter loved traveling to many countries with his loving wife, Sheila. Peter loved telling jokes and in his later years told the same joke over and over. He also loved being in nature and watching wildlife. For many years he donated to the Canadian Wildlife Federation.
Peter is survived by his wife, Sheila (Jackson) Andrews of 73 years; daughter, Sue (Will) Butler; 3 grandchildren, Sarah Biddulph, Amy Butler (Scott), and Hanna Butler (Lee); 7 great-grandchildren, Peter, Mark, Xander, Dane, Savannah, Milan, and Julian. He was predeceased by his daughter, Pauline Andrews; 6 siblings.
Arrangements and cremation have been entrusted to J. Albert Walker Funeral Home, Halifax. In keeping with Peter’s wishes there will be no visitation or funeral service. A private family burial will take place in the Spring. In lieu of flowers, donations in Peter’s memory can be made to the Canadian Wildlife Federation.
