Obituary of Norma Matilda (McDonald) Hurley, New Waterford
It is with sadness we, the family, announce the passing of Norma Hurley, age 95, on Sunday, March 9, 2025 at Seaview Manor, Glace Bay.
Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Lucille (McNeil) McDonald.
Norma enjoyed playing Bingo at the Army, Navy, Air Force and the Strand, New Waterford. She also liked going to Simeon’s for her tea and gossip, walking through Woolworth’s to talk to the girls and getting her hair done weekly.
Surviving are her grandchildren, Lloyd (Valerie) Gillis and Nicole Gallant.; great-grandchildren, Brendan (Haley), Sara (Larissa), Michael and Gabriella; many nieces and nephews. Norma was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Besides her parents, Norma was predeceased by her husband, Dougie Hurley; daughter, Debbie; son, Douglas, in infancy; sisters, Armedia, Lucy; brother, Ronnie and son-in-law, Lloyd.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Friday, Mar. 14 from 12:30 until the time of the service at 1:30 pm all in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home Chapel, 380 Smith Street, New Waterford.
